[/caption]Long ago, I sneaked and listened to one of my dad’s Eddie Murphy comedy albums and I remembered Murphy saying that there are those who engage in certain nefarious behavior, who did so to jump the head of the line for all those destined for Hell. If what the New York State Attorney General, Andrew Cuomo, is alleging about some insurance companies is true, then these guys too want to jump the line.
CNN is reporting that the New York Attorney General is investigating insurance companies for fraud, specifically looking to see if they denied grieving military families of needed life insurance proceeds. The fraud alleges that these insurance companies placed the life insurance proceeds into interest bearing accounts, without doling out those interests to the aggrieved families. To complicate matters for these military families, these interest bearing accounts were not insured by the FDIC.
How outrageous that these men and women go off to die for country and insurance “scum” steal from their suffering families. The companies allegedly involved in this fraud are MetLife and Prudential, and both are denying the Attorney General’s claims of fraud.
Prudential CEO, John Stangfeld said that, "Prudential does not in any way take money from beneficiaries." MetLife spokesman, John Calagna, said that he hadn’t seen the subpoena and… had no comment.
The news of the alleged fraud has reached the desk of the Pentagon; Secretary of Defense Gates said that he thought that deceased families were getting their loved one's benefits in the full amounts, but that wasn’t the case. Gates went to say that he is interested to see the outcome of Attorney General Cuomo’s investigation. I truly hope that this is not so, because such alleged greed would indeed warrant being at the head of the line for the biblical burning Hell.
