The “Barefoot Bandit’s” reputation has grown so much that it is hard to separate the truth from the exaggeration, which now makes up his expanding urban legend. The “Barefoot Bandit” started his “rep” out of Seattle, Washington; and, notwithstanding his many aliases, he was born Harris Moore and his many home evasions in wealthy neighborhoods, apparently outsmarting the FBI. The Barefoot Bandit’s penchant for stealing while barefoot, makes it more difficult to catch him, and this MO earned him the “Barefoot Bandit” name.
The nineteen year old Harris Moore is one of the youngest members of the FBI’s most wanted list and according to the Eleutheran news, he has now taken his crimes international to the Bahamas. You may ask how did the young Barefoot Bandit find his way from Seattle to the Bahamas - he stole a Cessna 400 in Indiana and flew it all the way to Eleuthera, an island in the Bahamas.
It is said that the Barefoot Bandit’s IQ is a few points below that of Einstein’s and this explains why he could fly a Cessna without any formal training. Though we may have benign curiosity about the exploits of the Barefoot Bandit, the FBI is taking his crime exploits very serious. As of now, there is a $10,000.00 informational reward with the attendant warnings that Barefoot Bandit is armed and dangerous and an escaped risk.
The FBI also gave a detailed description of the Barefoot Bandit: 6.5; weighing 205 pounds; and he has a knife wound scar on his left arm; and may be in possession of stolen fire arms. The barefoot Bandit may have an IQ to rival the great Einstein, but it might have been a mistake to take his crimes spree international - already, the “Barefoot Bandit” is suspected of robbing a tourism establishment.
Those of us from that part of the world know the authorities are not as lenient with law breakers, no matter their baby face countenances. Most of these islands in the Caribbean still have Capital Punishment and being incarcerated in a jail in those parts is no picnic. To underscore how things are different in the Caribbean, in school, on most of the islands, the teachers are still allowed to administer corporal punishment - I can personally testified to that fact.
The last time I was beaten, by a teacher named Dassent, because I didn’t know the name of Christopher Columbus’ wife for my history test, so extrapolate that if they are so tough in their schooling, imagined how they treat law breakers like our Barefoot Bandit. By the way, to this day, I still remember that Columbus’ wife name was Dona Felipa Perestrello e Moniz.
