PC World is reporting that Apple, which was stung with criticism for its antenna failure for its latest iPhone, has allocated some $175 million to fix the antenna problem. The fix for the iPhone 4 antenna include a case, but PCWorld is deeming this fix by Apple a bait and switch scheme. Apple ,through its CEO, Steve Jobs, has promised to fix the iPhone antenna problem, if those who own the phone, turn it within 30 days and provided that said phone is not otherwise damage.
Apple is also foregoing its restocking fee and along with the full refund for purchasers of the popular iPhone. The problem is that you may not get your refund or fix in time and compounding the problem, AT&T hasn’t agreed to surrender your contractual obligations in the 30 day interim. You would think that this something that Apple would discus with its major carrier, AT&T.
The estimated shipping timeline on all of the bumpers and cases available from the Apple is three to five weeks. Besides AT&T contracts, PC World says that Apple should provide a 30 day window from the time the bumper is shipped to give users adequate time to work with the solution and determine if it's effective, giving the consumer the time needed to determine if the iPhone 4 and its fix should be kept.
No one knows why Apple flushed, which is flushed cash and regards its rep with consumers to be of great import, doesn’t just replace the phone. Apple should nip this little cancer in the bud before it spreads. Yes, it is true that Apple has juice, but being arrogant can be detrimental to a brand – there are many companies who had the pedigree like Apple, but lost it over arrogance working in tandem with greed.
