As reported by CNN, the so called Barefoot Bandit has been sentenced to pay a $300 fine or spend 3 month in prison for illegally landing a plane on the Bahamas.
Colton Harris-Moore was finally apprehended on the island of Eleuthera a few days ago and was brought before a Bahamian court on Tuesday.
Harris-Moore will soon be brought to the US where he will face trials for several crimes. Based on foxnews.com there are 70 crimes across 8 states and Canada that the barefoot bandit supposedly commited.
While crime does not pay in the long run, at least not for the criminal, 20th Century Fox thinks that it might be a good base for a movie and has purchased the rights for a film based on his exploits as CNN reports.
Colton A. Harris-Moore also likes to call himself "Colt". He was born on March 22, 1991 and is a former fugitive from Camano Island, Washington. He is suspected in the theft of at least five small aircraft, a boat and two cars, and in the burglaries of at least 100 private residences in various locations around the Pacific Northwest of the United States and Canada. He fled to the Bahamas on July 4, 2010, allegedly in a plane stolen from Indiana.
He was indicted on July 6, 2010 by a U.S. Federal Court in Washington on charges of transporting a stolen aircraft. On July 11, 2010 Harris-Moore was arrested in northern Harbour Island, Bahamas, after police shot out the engine of the boat he was attempting to flee in. He is awaiting deportation to federal officials in Miami, Florida.
He became known as the "Barefoot Bandit" or "Barefoot Burglar" by reportedly committing some of his crimes barefoot, once leaving behind a chalk footprint, as reported by kirotv.com. Despite the widely-reported nicknames, officials said that he more often wore shoes, according to heraldnet.com.
