Following in the footsteps of other notorious football personality, Terrell Owens, who was granted his own reality show called “The T.O. Show”, Chad Ochocinco has been working with VH1 to create a reality show of his own.

The show’s name, “The Ultimate Catch, obviously refers to Ochocinco’s football position as wide receiver.

The Ultimate Catch” premiered last night with mixed results from football and reality TV show fans around the country.

The basic premise follows the typical dating show set-up with plenty of attractive female cast members, all vying for Ochocinco’s love (and wallet).

Considering how many times the dating show scenario has been done before, making a pro-football player the star attraction is probably way overdue.

VH1 has featured reality dating shows in the past with washed-up, has-been music entertainers - like early 90’s rapper Flavor Flav and his show “The Flavor of Love”, as well as lead vocalist from the 80’s hair band Poison, Bret Michaels, and his show “Rock of Love with Bret Michaels”.

VH1 was obviously waiting for the right personality to come along to branch out into the world of sports. Ochocinco fits that personality perfectly.

The pro football player is notorious for his publicity stunts on and off the football field, such as pretending to slip a referee a bribe to make a call go his way during a game, and changing his name from Chad Javon Johnson to Chad Ochocinco to celebrate his jersey number with the Cincinnati Bengals.

After finishing up with his stint on “Dancing with the Stars”, Ochocinco started filming for his new show. Viewers will have all season to decide for themselves whether or not Ochocinco is really looking for love, or just better ratings and a larger fan base.
