For once, the super model Naomi Campbell is in the news, but not for striking any of her employees or running a foul of the law by anything she has done. ThirdAge is reporting that the English super model might be called by authorities of the Hague to provide vital evidence against Charles Taylor, a former African leader of Liberia, who is currently on trial for war crimes allegedly committed in Sierra Leone.

The evidence sought from Miss Campbell stems from her allegedly receiving “blood” diamonds from Mr. Taylor in 1997… when both attended a gala for former South African President, Nelson Mandela.

It is reported that American actress Mia Farrow, former paramour of Woody Allen, might also be called by the Hague to testify, too. Allegedly, Miss Farrow was told by Miss Campbell about the diamonds given to her by Mr. Taylor.

This evidence of giving Miss Campbell diamonds is of import to The Hague because part the case against Mr. Taylor is that he funded his war with diamonds. I supposed by showing and proving that he gave Miss Campbell diamonds shows that the former African leader, who ruled Liberia until he was ousted  in 2003, had access to these controversial “blood” diamonds, so much so that he could afford to give them as gifts to Miss Campbell.

It was earlier this year on the Oprah show- to paraphrased Miss Campbell, when she said that she wanted nothing to do with Mr. Taylor… Miss Campbell further opined that he had done terrible things when he ruled Liberia and that she feared for her family due to her pending appearance before the Hague.

Perhaps, this should be a lesson for the super model, Miss Campbell, because we have also seen her lauding and being the guest of the controversial Venezuelan leader, Hugo Chavez.
