I supposed that time heals all wounds and if Exxon can recover from the Valdez spill in Alaska, them BP may be able to overcome its' spill in the Gulf of Mexico. This recovery by BP will have to start under new CEO leadership, because CNNMoney is reporting that BP’s board has made official what was widely known: the replacement of CEO Tony Hayward with Bob Dudley.

Mr. Dudley is an engineer by vocation, and was educated at the University of Illinois. He is married with a couple of children, and was recently residing in England.

Dudley has the requisite resume; he was initially employed by Amoco for close to two decades until its' merger with BP in 1998. He has an excellent oil business reputation and was recently the head of TNK-BP, which became the third largest oil company in Russia. In essence, Mr. Dudley, being a member of the BP board, is an insider who knows the workings of the BP’s culture

Those in the know also believe that Mr. Dudley, along with his being an insider, was chosen because he is from the Gulf state area, specifically being born and raised in Mississippi. BP’s public relations gaffes will hopefully be a thing of the past with someone from the affected areas giving voice to address the peoples concerns.

Along with elevating Mr. Dudley to be BP’s CEO, they are adding some $32 billion to the kiddy for compensating Gulf residents’ claims. Let the resurrection of BP begin.
