There is no doubt that Danica Patrick is the blossoming rose on the Indy car racing circuit, but many are wondering if her rose is losing some of its bloom. For those who do not follow Indy car racing, Danica is the first female with the skills to compete and win on its race tracks and she has the beauty and fan base, which gives her the street creditability.
No doubt that the blessings that Danica has received - countless commercials; spreads in major, notable magazines; and exposure on many late night talk shows – are not consonant to her winning on the race track. Danica has had one race win and a half dozen top ten placements on the Indy car circuit, but because she is pioneer… coupled with natural beauty, the public loves her.
Danica is not perfect and she has her detractors and some say that they are growing.
Some see Danica as sometimes being petulant, especially when she gets into a wreck and exits her car… stomping like a spoil child; others see her as not taking on any responsibility when something goes wrong during a race, but always blaming her race team. During a race last week, Danica did not do well and she publicly blamed her mechanical team… the Indy audience booed her loudly for not sharing the responsibility - Danica was stunned because she thought that she was above such criticism.
Danica still bring the fans to her chosen sports, if not because of her winnings… on her beauty and being a pioneering ambassador in a sports dominated by men.
We hope that these minor set backs will not affect Danica’s resolve and that she will continue to be a shining example for all those little girls out there who have ambition to take part in a given sport, supposedly, only men should take part in.

Terrible timing for this article. There will always be little men who have a problem with Danica. If you liked Danica last year there is a good probability that you still do. If you are finding fault with Danica now, there is an equal probability that you never did like her. She has done more to break the male only glass ceiling than any women except possibly Ashley Force Hood.
ردحذفyeah... sure....
ردحذفI guess Danica was just flukey lucky to come in 5th today in the Indy 500.
You boo birds and bitchers about Danica are full of shit. She keeps beating the "boys" at Indy. She is a good race car driver. if she had the cars the Gnassi and Penske teams have, she would win races. Pure and simple.
So, screw you boo birds.
All those little girls would be better off following Sarah Fisher. Owns and manages her own race team. Has run more Indycar races than all other women combined. Is able to generate publicity and sponsors without taking off her clothes. Doesn't pout.
ردحذفDanica was the 4th (at best) women to race an Indycar. She is the only one to have won a race, but her last win was 10 years before that and she has not won in the 2 years since. There were 4 other women in the 2010 Indy 500. Danica qualified slowest, despite the fact that two of the other women were in their rookie year.
She is a media whore and an average race car driver. She is unlikely to last another year in her current job and will never get another driving assignment because her attitude is out of proportion to her results.
so, verily prime, what is the sub-text to this article (the last couple paragraphs in particular where her 'ambassadorial' qualities are highlighted)? Is the subtext that poor, wittle Danica should be excused when she acts like a brat because she's a girl? That sort of garbage should have been passe in the 1970s (though women still use it to deflect criticism). I am tired of people portraying her as the underdog: she probably makes more in endorsement money than any other driver (or almost any other driver) in the IRL; she has an elite team around her that is devoted to her success; she is able to play the gender card with impunity when she so desires; and her boorish behaviour is invariably excused by the press (just like tiger woods' behaviour was excused for a very long time until he committed the unpardonable sin - I am being sarcastic - of cheating on his blonde bimbo of a wife). This is a privileged white female with an entitlement complex; I think we can all start treating her like an adult (which means holding her accountable as an adult). Naturally, that is going to be hard on danica because she has spent her whole life being treated like a princess and acting like an insolent princess.
