[/caption]Yesterday Lindsay Lohan finally showed up to court after being stuck in Cannes due to her passport being stolen.
Judge Marsha Revel told Lindsay that in order for her to stay free on her bail she has to wear and alcohol-monitoring bracelet and she must do random drug testing. Lindsay is also required to go to all her scheduled alcohol education classes.
The Judge ordered that Lindsay must stay in the LA area so that she could attend her random drug testing. Lindsay having to stay in the area interferes with her traveling to Texas where she was going to shoot her next film. The Judge basically said, too bad about that.
But the big question is how does the alcohol monitoring bracelet work that Lindsay is required to wear? The device that she is required to wear is called a “SCRAM” which stands for, Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor.
SCRAM works by keeping track of the wearer’s alcohol consumption by measuring his/her sweat. When a person drinks alcohol 1% of the alcohol is put out through the skin’s pores. When those molecules that are emitted contact the bracelet they are measured and recorded.
Exactly how much alcohol was consumed by the wearer is then gauged and then transmitted to Alcohol Monitoring Systems wirelessly, which then send the information onto court agencies or other places.
A SCRAM bracelet is also very tamper-proof. If you tamper with it you will be caught no doubt and following that will be brought in for a court hearing.
I think that with Lindsay wearing this bracelet it will really help her stop consuming alcohol since if she does she will get in a lot of trouble and huge consequences will follow. Also with this bracelet she is constantly being monitored no matter what she does.
