Sometimes it is fun to look at trends on Google: trends.google.com When checking it out tonight, I found eHarmony as a trending topic.
What's interesting about it is, there were no news that seemed to have triggered it. Despite that Google calls it spicy, but that is somehow a nice play with words.
There is one site that published an interv with the vice president of international marketing of eHarmony. But somehow that person does not seem to be too important, as they fail to even write his or her name. Seam Comwell from smartcompany.com.au writes:
United State-based dating site eHarmony is one of the global industry leaders, with revenue estimated at about $US250 million and more than 30 million registered users worldwide. In what is a highly competitive industry, the site has managed to stand out by focusing on old-fashioned matchmaking rather than brief encounters.
ABC News then writes in an article titled "eHarmony Seeks Scientific Edge in Uncertain Game of Love":
'Nightline' Gets an Inside Look at How Dating Site Uses Algorithms to Pair Lonelyhearts.
After three pages worth of article they finally come to the conclusion:
They say love comes in many forms. eHarmony's version starts with a line of computer code and doesn't always work. But sometimes it all adds up.
They probably mean if you look at the money side. Sure, it adds up for eHarmoney. Dating is big business. Selling eHarmony login credentials brings in several hundred million dollars per year.
Whether eHarmony or any other dating site, like match.com and the like is good or not: You have to decide for yourself.
