Facebook already tells us a lot. They tell us all about our friends, where the next big party is, whose birthday it is today etc. So, what not ask Facebook more things such as, "What are some fun family activities to do with two small children on the weekend?" or, "What caused the U.S. stock market to crash in 2009?."
That's right, the social networking giant, Facebook is asking members to sign up as "experts" for new addition to Facebook. This feature is called Facebook Questions. It rolled out in beta form on Thursday.
"Your expert writing will be seen by tens of millions of people -- including job recruiters," Facebook wrote. "And we'll bring our best beta testers out to California to tour Facebook headquarters and meet the team."
This sounds like a good offer for just trying out a beta feature of Facebook. This feature would put Facebook ahead of other major internet sites. Yahoo is trying to find a way to make their site more attractive as a homepage.
You can fill out some sample questions and answers here. Facebook will review them and see if they wish to include you as a tester/expert.
Facebook tells us about being a beta tester, "As a beta tester, your job will be to ask great questions and provide great answers about your favorite topics. Economics? Skydiving? Relationships? Mexican Restaurants? It's up to you. You'll be the first person outside of Facebook to use this product."
This move by Facebook might even take over Yahoo Answers and Google's recently purchased Aardvark.
Crowd-sourcing question/answer sites are growing more and more popular with the expansion of the Internet over the world. Facebook will have a head start over other sites what with their hundreds of millions of users.
