I must confess that I am a Luddite, but even so, even I am privy to the contribution Apple has made to our world and if I didn’t know, my brother would make sure that I do. The brother of this blogger might as well become one of Apple’s spoke persons, not that they need anymore… for it is obvious in the sales that Apple generates with its products. Just from a visual point of view, Apple’s products catch the eye. It also helps to see that when Apple is about to launch a product or update an existing one, that the fans gather in line… waiting for tickets like fans of Zeppelin or Lady Gaga would do. Whether you see this phenomenon in Manhattan or on the news, it is a sobering reminder to Apple competitors what they are up against.

Is it the cool commercials that mercilessly mock Microsoft of its short comings or the aesthetics of the Apple's competitors Products? Is it the rabid nature of Apple’s followers and cult-like networking they engage when there is a hint of a new product on the horizon? Why is it that products of a similar nature made by other tech companies do not generate the buzz like Apple? It is almost like a conspiracy, but I know better because Apple’s competitors have the budget and access to the reputable ad agencies to come up with kick-ass commercials to create buzz for their respective products. Apple is so dominant that our law makers, through the Department of Justice, are looking into whether Apple is in essence a monopoly, especially in its music endeavors.

I am not going to get into the technical aspects of Apple’s products, because frankly I would be like a fish out of water. I do know how driven the people at Apple are; its CEO, Steve Jobs is a prime example of being driven, even more so now because of his recent illness, which, if reports are true, had him receiving a major organ transplant and overcoming cancer. For a Luddite like me, all I know is that when I see Apple’s product, they look cool. I am not sold enough though to own any of Apple’s products yet, no matter how much my brother eggs me on to do so… perhaps when my trusty Dell lap top has run its course.
