Hurricane Earl has become Tropical Storm Earl. Earl is considered a large and powerful tropical storm with winds of 70 miles per hour. Tropical Storm Earl made landfall near the western head Nova Scotia around 10:00 AM. Severe tropical storm conditions are affecting a large part of the Canadian province.
A hurricane watch is in effect for Nova Scotia from Port Lhebert to Point Tupper.
A tropical storm warning is in effect for the entire coast of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick from the Fundy National Park eastward to Fort Lawrence, and from Shediac to Tidnish, and the Magdalen Islands.
A tropical storm watch is in effect for Point Escuminac to Shediac and New Brunswick.
Tropical Storm Earl is expected to stay the same strength for a little while, and then over the next 24 hours, Earl is expected to become extratropical.
Currently, Earl is moving northeast at near 36 miles per hour, this motion will bring Earl across Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, and the Gulf of Saint Lawrence today.
Back in the Atlantic between South America and Africa, we have a lot of shower and thunderstorm activity. It's associated with the remnants of Gaston, and it continues to show signs of organization this morning. The environmental conditions in this area are conducive for re-deveolpment of this system, and a tropical depression could re-form in this area later today, or tonight. There is a high chance, 70%, that this system will become a tropical cyclone again during the next 48 hours. It continues to move westward at about 10 miles per hour.

Over the southern Bay of Campeche, we have an area of disturbed weather, and there is a low chance, 20%, that this system will become a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours. It's moving northwestward at around 5-10 miles per hour.
In an elongated area off the west coast of Africa, there is significant low pressure. It's become less organized, however, environmental conditions in the area could allow for it to develop during the next couple days. There is a low chance, 20%, that this system will become a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours as it moves northwestward at about 10 miles per hour.
