Boomsday is an event which takes place every year in Knoxville. It's in downtown Knoxville at the Neyland Drive from 1 pm - 10 pm. It is one of the larger fireworks in the U.S. and certainly the largest the largest fireworks show in the southeast United States. Some even call it the largest fireworks show in the nation. About 300,000 to 500,000 visitors are expected to watch the fireworks presentation live. Before the actual fireworks show, all kinds of live entertainment is delivered.
You can't buy any tickets, as this event if free of charge. At 9:30 pm the actual fireworks start. It is launched from the Henley Street Bridge over the Tennessee River. It's not just some thrown together noise, but rather a well choreographed fire works show to a soundtrack. The music plays in tune with the fireworks. The first Boomsday took place in 1987 and is created every year since then by Pyro Shows of LaFollette, Tennessee.
