On Thursday, news of the "here you have" email virus was first announced. Now, on Friday, the email virus remained on the top five Google searches, and for good reason. It snarled traffic, and took down servers at ABC, Comcast, Google and NASA. It possibly even swamped some of the Department of Homeland Security's computers.
The Internet Storm Center, a free analysis and warning service which tracks malicious Internet activity, has reported that the initial application which generated the huge cloud of spam that clogged servers has been taken down. This should limit the spread of the virus on Friday. As well, there have been no new reports of infected servers on Friday. This means that we may be on our way out of this mess.
The Storm Center has warned that "new variants may well follow," so it's not time to celebrate just yet, however, we're getting back into shape.
The virus called "here you have" or VBMania by different internet security companies, is a simple Trojan Horse: An email arrives in your inbox with the suggestive subject line, "here you have." Then, the email body reads "This is the document I told you abut, you can find it Here," or some other similar message. Click on the link or attachment in the email and you download and launch a program that automatically spams the same Trojan Horse out to everyone in your address book, this floods and cripples email servers.
Several virus monitors such as McAfee Labs and Symantec are currently investigating the threat. They have already updated their websites to sell security products that could protect users.

"It looks like multiple variants may be spreading and it may take some time to work through them all to paint a clearer picture," warned Craig Schmugar on McAfee's Threat Response page.
This is one of the biggest problems with this viruse. It may have already replicated into several new forms. This makes it harder to stop.
