An email virus has been hauting millions of consumers today. The email is hidden in an email with the subject line "Here You Have". Many large organizations have been affected by the worm email. At least that is what ABC News reports.
Supposedly the email reads:
"Hello: This is The Document I told you about, you can find it here" and includes a link that appears to be a pdf document.
Whether there is an actual virus with the subject line "Here you Have" or whether this whole thing is just made up could not be determined at the time of writing.
There are indications in the ABC article that do not make sense. The ABC article quotes twitter ramblings from obscure individuals to "prove" that something was going on. They also quote Adobe for having said something yesterday about PDF files. Well, looks like another end of summer story to me.
In any case, if you receive an email from an unknown sender you should not open the email anyhow, especially if said email has any kind of attachment.
It seems rather strange that a virus that supposedly is affecting millions of computers, and supposedly affecting large organizations including NASA, Comcast, AIG, Disney, Florida Department of Transportation and Wells Fargo, at least based on the elaborations of Ki Mae Heussner, the ABC News writer, has not been mentioned by www.mcafee.com or www.symantec.com.
