If you have ever wondered how much of your personal information is stored by the many websites you access on a daily basis there is an interesting little tool that will tell you. It's called Trasir. It will automatically display your IP address, this reveals your geographical location, it also displays the name of your browser, the name of your computer's operating system, your computer's language, and lastly your computer's screen resolution. It also tells you the exact time in your location.

This might seem like all the information that gets collected by websites, however, it's not. Most websites also collect information about your screen colors, Flash versions, whether or not you have Java support, and even your network connection speed. This is all collected without you even allowing anything. Of course, if you sign up for a website with your full name or your email address, that's one more piece of collected information.

Trasir appears to have been built for only one purpose: to educate internet users about the information they share on a daily basis. Unless you are using a different IP address, all this information is stored by the websites you access, even if it's not being stored on your computer. A warning to those who think that using Private Browsing mode in Chrome or Firefox, the websites still store this information, even if your browser won't.

This shouldn't scare you, rather, you should just be aware that websites that you access have this data, so be careful with your surfing, and don't lurk into suspicious online waters.

Another thing that Trasir does is it can show you information about where a website is hosted, its IP address and its server location.
