Hurricane Igor is still a category 4 hurricane. Igor's maximum sustained winds are up to 150 miles per hour, making it a powerful hurricane. Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 45 miles from the storm's center, while tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 175 miles from the center.

Hurricane Igor is moving westward over the Tropical Atlantic. Igor is about 880 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands, meaning that the storm has quite a ways to go before it reaches any land. Igor is moving at about 10 miles per hour. A turn toward the west-northwest is expected sometime tonight or Tuesday.

With maximum sustained winds of 150 miles per hour, Igor is a category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. There are some fluctuations in Igor's intensity expected during the next 48 hours, however, Igor is still going to remain a large and powerful hurricane for the next couple of days.

Meanwhile, tropical depression twelve has become Tropical Storm Julia. Julia is moving away from the Cape Verde Islands. Julia has maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 70 miles from the center of this storm.

There are tropical storm warnings in effect for the southern Cape Verde Islands, including Maio, Sao Tiago, Fogo, and Brava.

Julia is expected to continue moving toward the west-northwest at near 14 miles per hour. However a turn toward the northwest followed by a slight decrease in forward speed is expected on Tuesday.

Some strengthening is forecast for Tropical Storm Julia. It's possible that Julia will become a hurricane in the next couple of days.
