This season, the Michigan State football team is going to have a good season, so it appears. They have a few tough games ahead of them, but they've got a pretty good team as well. Michigan loyalists have been waiting since last year for today to come, as today was the season opener for Michigan State.

In today's season opener game against Connecticut Michigan won with 30 points, beating Connecticut's 10.

The crowd at the game was huge, 113,090 people were in attendance. That's a record in itself. The previous Michigan Stadium attendance record was 112,118. Today marks that 217th consecutive game of more than 100,000 fans at Michigan Stadium.

The Wolverines played very well today, they were led on the field by Brock Mealer.

Twenty-one Wolverines made their collegiate debut today. In addition to Cameron Gordon, Gibbons, Hagerup and Johnson, freshman cornerback Courtney Avery, freshman defensive end Jibreel Black, freshman cornerback Cullen Christian, freshman holder Drew Dileo, sophomore/freshman safety Vlad Emilien, sophomore/freshman Jeremy Gallon, freshman quarterback Devin Gardner, sophomore/freshman linebacker Thomas Gordon, freshman receiver Jeremy Jackson, freshman safety Marvin Robinson, sophomore/freshman offensive tackle Michael Scholfield, freshman cornerback Terrence Talbott, freshman safety Ray Vinopal and sophomore/freshman guard Quinton Washington also saw playing time against Connecticut.

All in all, it was a great season opener, and we look forward to seeing how they do in all the games listed on their schedule.
