Shannon Sharpe is currently taking a leave of absence from his position as an analyst at CBS's NFL Today Show. He is taking this leave in the light of a sexual assault allegation from Michele Bundy.

The former NFL tight end for the Denver Broncos has made this decision after a temporary restraining order was slapped on hims after a petition was filed on Thursday by Bundy in Atlanta's Fulton County Superior Court.

In a statement, Shannon Sharpe said, "I have decided to step aside from the NFL Today, until this matter is resolved." By the NFL Today, he means the CBS Pregame Show.

These allegations may have serious consequences for Sharpe's career.

A hearing is scheduled regarding the sexual assault allegations. It's scheduled to occur on September 20. Details of Michele Bundy's petition are not publicly available as it has been classified under "family violence" since she is caring for a child.

Sharpe is being considered for the NFL Hall of Fame. Sharpe hasn't been charged with any crimes, he has not been arrested either. This means that he's probably pretty safe for now.

It could be that it's all just a scam anyways, and that it will soon blow over. That would be what is best for Sharpe. It would allow him to go on with his life without any more trouble.

It would be really good if people like Sharpe could stay out of trouble, and could set a better example for children and teenagers. Famous people are, after all, most people's biggest role models. If it would be possible for them to stay out of trouble, and be know for doing good things, it would help others stay out of trouble as well.
