A wildfire, which started today in Fourmile Canyon northwest of Boulder is threatening many homes. Residents are evacuating their homes while firefighters try to limit the expansion of the fire.

As CNN reports, high winds have been fueling the fire and caused it to move fast. The amount of damage is unclear at the moment, but it looks like no homes have been destroyed by the fire. One firetruck was damaged.

Also, there have been no injuries reported so far. The cause of the boulder fire is currently unknown.

Currently the fire is moving north-east and some roads have been closed due to smoke and bad visibility.

Evacuations

Gold Hill, Fourmile Canyon, Olde Stage, Salina, Sunshine Canyon are under mandatory evacuation.

Mountain Meadows, Mountain Pines, Boulder Heights and Pinebrook Hills are being evacuated now.

Evacuation points are open at the Nederland Community Center, 750 N. Colo. 72; North Boulder Recreation Center, 3170 Broadway; and New Vista High School, 700 20th St., Boulder.

Animal Shelters

Evacuees can take dogs, cats and small mammals to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, 2323 55th St., for temporary shelter. The VCA All Pets Clinic, 5290 Manhattan Circle, Boulder, will also take cats and dogs; call 303-499-5335 to make an appointment.

Livestock is being taken to the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont.

Road closures
Lefthand Canyon, Fourmile Canyon, Sunshine Canyon, Olde Stage and westbound Colo.119 (Boulder Canyon) are closed to traffic.

An incident call center has been established to assist residents affected by the wildfire and evacuations. Residents are asked to contact this call center at 303-413-7737 instead of calling 911 or the city and county dispatch lines unless there is a new emergency to report.
