Tropical Storm Igor strengthened a lot during the night and early morning. Igor's winds are now up to 70 miles per hour. It's expected that Igor will become a hurricane before late night today.

Igor is moving toward the west at near 20 miles per hour. This general forward motion is forecast to continue over the next 48 hours with only a few small changes in forward speed.

Tropical storm force winds now extend outward up to 115 miles from the center. That makes Igor a lot bigger than the storm was yesterday where winds reached only 45 miles outward from the center. The major winds are still the ones facing towards the west.

In addition to Tropical Storm Igor, we have the area located over the eastern Caribbean Sea where there are some showers and thunderstorms associated with a broad area of low pressure.

It appears that environmental conditions in this area are conducive for development of this system. A tropical depression could form here as this system moves westward into the central and western Caribbean Sea. There is actually a high, 60 percent, chance of this system becoming a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours.
