Tropical Storm Igor became a hurricane last night. The storm strengthened during the night and became a category 2 hurricane. Hurricane Igor has winds of up to 105 miles per hour.

Hurricane force winds extend up to 35 miles outward from Igor's center. Tropical storm force winds extend outward about 140 miles from the center. Hurricane Igor is growing bigger at a very gradual scale.

Currently, Igor is a category 2 hurricane with winds of up to 105 miles per hour, with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast for today, and Igor could become a major hurricane by Monday.

There are no current watches or warnings in effect. There are also no hazards affecting land. This is due to the fact that Hurricane Igor is still in the middle of the Atlantic, about 1230 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands.

Igor is moving toward the west at about 13 miles per hour. A turn towards the west-northwest is expected on tuesday. Igor is not expected to make landfall anytime soon. As you can see, the forecast track shows the storm moving away from land, rather than towards it.

In addition to Hurricane Igor, another tropical depression formed, tropical depression twelve. This tropical depression has winds of up to 35 miles per hour.

There are tropical storm warnings in effect for the Southern Cape Verde Islands, including Maio, Sao Tiago, Fogo, and Brava.

The storm is expected to pass near the southernmost Cape Verde Islands tonight and Monday.

This tropical depression is expected to strengthen over the next few days. The depression is expected to become a tropical storm on Monday or Tuesday.
