Tropical Storm Igor is gradually strengthening over the far eastern Atlantic. Igor is moving west at about 21 miles per hour. This general motion is expected to continue for a while, until the storm turns a bit northwest. Also, this movement is expected to be accompanied by a gradual decrease in forward speed.

Tropical Storm Igor has picked up speed and strength over the past few days since the storm was downgraded to a tropical depression. The storm must have not liked that and decided to retaliate. Tropical Storm Igor's winds are moving at about 45 miles per hour, with tropical storm force winds extending outward about 45 miles from the center. These outreaching winds are going mainly to the west.

Currently, there are no coastal watches or warnings in effect relevant to Tropical Storm Igor, however, as the storm moves closer to the Caribbean, that may change.

Environmental conditions are expected to become more conducive during the next couple of days for a tropical depression to form. There is a medium chance, about 50 percent, of this system becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours.
