A few weeks ago, T-Mobile USA announced the the T-Mobile G2. But then a few days later the teaser page, which only gave a rough overview, was gone again. Today the page is accessible again. You can read some basic information and register for updates.

The new T-Mobile G2 will be tightly integrated with Google services, running on the Google Android platform. The phone is designed to run at 4G speeds on T-Mobile's new HSPA+ network.

Don't worry about all the technical ramifications. It's simply something faster. But in case you want to know, here is some explanation:

HSPA+, which is short for Evolved High-Speed Packet Access. This is a wireless  broadband  standard that makes HSPA data rates up to 56 Mbit/s on the down-link and 22 Mbit/s on the up-link possible.

It uses multiple antennas, called MIMO (Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output) technology. That simple means that the device has more than one antenna.

The whole thing is designed to rival the Sprint 4G Network. All these things by the way are standard technology since quite some time in Europe. Even the Kangaroo's in down under use it since 2008. T-Mobile, a German company, makes sure to bring all the newest technology to the US just a little later.

It's the old Coca Cola game: You let us wait for Coke and Big Mac, say the Europeans, now you have to wait for the newest phone technology.
