The time of year has come for the 2010 Minnesota State Fair. The fair runs from Thursday, August 26 through Labor Day, September 6. It will feature a lot of new attractions and exhibits. Many of these new attractions are free with the price of admission. Additionally, several rides, food options and new competitions will debut at this year's Great Minnesota Get-Together.

The 2010 Minnesota State Fair features over 1,000 non-food related commercial vendors and exhibits. That's a lot of things to see, places to go and things to do. This year there are over 30 new vendors and exhibits. New additions to the fair include: My BFF (My Best Friend Fish - a kit to grow live fish right in front of your eyes), Arrowhead Toboggan & Sled Co. (handmade toboggans), I Like You (handmade items by Minnesota artists and crafters) , Awesome Rods (compact casting fishing poles) etc.

Another thing that is going to be at the fair is the State Fair Survival Kit. The State Fair Foundation is offering these kits to new and renewing Friends of the Fair (while supplies last). These kits included essentials for a great day at the fair.

An example of a new exhibit that is going to debut at the 2010 Minnesota State Fair is Green Street. It is located at the Eco Experience in the Progress Center. It's a mini-version of a walkable neighborhood with community space, carbon footprint-reducing transportation options and renewable energy. The model street includes a play area, rain garden, public performance space, community garden and "distributed" energy sources that include a carport and electric car charging station.

This year's fair is going to be a blast. Take your family and friends for a nice day off for a day of fun and excitement.
