The National Hurricane Center reported at 5:PM today the the Hurricane Danielle changed it's path and is now mowing more northwestward. The Hurricane is currently about 685 miles east-north east of the Northern Leeward Islands.
The Northern Leeward Islands are the U.S. Virgin Islands (St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix, Water Island) and Saint Martin and Barbuda. These islands are called "leeward", as the winds on these islands most of the time blows from the east.
The sustained winds (more than 1 minute) are about 85 mph and the Hurricane moves with a speed of about 17 miles per hour over sea. It is expected that Danielle will continue to move to the northwest during the next few days.

Danielle is a category 1 hurricane. It is possible;e that the cyclone slowly strengthens over the next 48 hours and turns into a category 2 hurricane again. There are currently no hazards affecting land on any Island or the continental U.S. Danielle was classified a few days ago as a category 2 hurricane, but it subsequently lost steam and is currently only a category 1 hurricane.
The next update on Hurricane Danielle will be given by the National Hurricane Center at 11:00 PM EST.
Another tropical cyclone, tropical storm Earl, is currently forming. At this point it is not clear whether that storm might develop into something larger or not.
