Hurricane Earl is still a category 4 hurricane at large in the Atlantic Ocean. Earls sustains winds of up to 135 miles per hour and there are no signs that they will let down anytime soon.

Earl is still moving west-northwest toward the East Coast of the United States. Hurricane Earl's core is passing well east of the Turks and Caicos islands with 135 mile per hour winds.

There is a tropical storm warning in effect for the Turks and Caicos islands while Earl passes, and there is a tropical storm watch in effect fro the southeastern Bahamas.

That means that right now is not the time for a nice tropical vacation in the Bahamas, rather, it's a time for them to wait out the winds and the rain.

There are some fluctuations in intensity for Earl are expected, however, Hurricane Earl is forecast to retain category 4 status for the next day or two. Hurricane force winds extend out from the center of Hurricane Earl out for 70 miles, and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 200 miles from the center.

Tropical storm conditions are affecting the vicinity of the Turks and Caicos islands, but weather conditions will likely improve in these islands on Wednesday.

Storm surge, water above normal tides, accompanied by large and dangerous waves are possible in the Turks and Caicos Islands as well as the southeastern Bahamas. These conditions are also expected to improves soon.

Rainfall accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are possible for portions of the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico today. These rains could cause life-threatening flash floods and mudslides, so people in that area should be careful. Also, rainfall accumulations of 1 to 3 inches with isolated maximums of 6 inches are expected for the southeastern Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos islands.

The National Hurricane Center is Tracking Earl as he makes his way up the tropics and toward the East Coast.
