We all know that Twitter has basically become the place to see which celebrity is the most followed.

For a very long time Britney Spears was the Twitter queen, however, the time has come for a succession. Lady Gaga has stolen the crown. With 5,702,978 followers as of this writing, she barely passes Britney Spears' 5,684,642.

Those numbers are constantly changing, however, once one has passed the other, they usually don't catch up for awhile.

It's unclear what might have caused this change. It might be because people would rather follow someone who is interesting and different than someone who has been in the spotlight since 2000.

What is known though, is that Britney has been passed, and she's going to have to put up a tough fight if she wants to regain her position.

Read more statistics on the next page.

Personally, I prefer looking at Britney's profile to looking at Lady Gaga's just because it's more appealing. She keeps it light while Lady Gaga seems to be going for more of the scary look, that is assuming from her background.

Anyways, back to statistics, coming in third is Ashton Kutcher with 5,564,961 followers. That's quite a lot as well, and, that number is as well constantly rising.

Coming in fourth is Ellen DeGeneres with 5,068,806 followers.

In fifth place is President Barack Obama with 5,039,611 followers. Fifth place might not seem so great compared to first, however, he is most definitely the most popular/modern American president. I mean seriously, do you know any other United States president who had a twitter account and uses a BlackBerry smartphone?
