Manuscript for iPad is an application that turns your iPad into a write-able book. It is an app that was literally built for writers. It is a writing app that lets you outline, research, edit and export anything from a short story to an entire book, right on your iPad.

Manuscript allows you to do more than just write a book, you can use it for note-taking, project management, storyboard, brainstorming, to-do lists -- whatever you need a writing app for.

The features of Manuscript for iPad are:

You can create a manuscript from scratch, or import one from Dropbox.

Outline your manuscript using multiple levels - pitch, synopsis, index cards and individual chapter outline.

It has color coded index cards that can serve as a repository for ideas, character development, reminders etc.

Each chapter has the ability to be outlined individually. You can create empty chapters, outline them and then pour your content into them in any order that you wish.

Manuscript has the ability to use Wikipedia, Google, and Wiktionary directly from within the app.

You can backup your work-in-progress, or export your finished manuscript, to Dropbox as an RTF, TXT or HTML file that can be read on both Mac and PC.

That's quite a few features, however, the main thing that I like with this app was the appearance. It has the look and feel of a real book. The only thing that is missing is a real page turning effect. Besides that, it feels like you are actually writing in a real book.

Also, the outline functionality is priceless. It's really nice and easy to use.

There are, however, a few features that could be added. It's not exactly the cheapest app at $9.99. It's pretty pricy compared to a lot of other text editors for the iPad.

It could definitely use a security function. If for example, you wish to keep others from reading your manuscript until you're done, you have to keep them away from your iPad. Whereas if it had some sort of passcode functionality you wouldn't have to worry about that.

Also, it could use some more fonts and the ability to change the font size.

All in all, it's a nice app, but I'm sure that after a few updates it will be more worth the money that you're spending on it.
