ABC News is reporting that Sandra Bullock earned $56 million in a little over a year.

Although the disparity in how women are paid compared to men hasn’t escaped Hollywood, Miss Bullock's pay is apparently up there with the boys, which should make the feminists and fair-minded people happy.

Miss Bullock not only garnered a sizeable paycheck for her work, but she had the good business sense to be the producer so that she can get a chunk of the back-end too.

Two of her movies in particular contributed to her financial bottom line: the romantic comedy, “The Proposal,” made on a budget of only $40 million, but grossed $320 million; and the true story, “The Blind Side,” made on a budget of $30 million, but grossed $320 million. The icing on the cake was Miss Bullock’s winning of her first Oscar for “The Blind Side.”

Notwithstanding the personal turmoil in Miss Bullock’s life, she is indeed a role model of someone who has good business acumen, not only for women, but for anyone. Her accomplishment is even more impressive because she is over forty years old in an industry that cherishes youth. The public, even before Miss Bullock’s marital problems, seemed to favor the actress… taking over the role as America’s sweetheart, a position once held by Julia Roberts.

I hope the fortunes Miss Bullock is seeing in her chosen vocation continue and that it will be part and parcel of her personal life too; perhaps her adoption of a baby, Louis, and her taking up residence in Louisiana will go along way in contributing to her healing and overall personal well-being.
