The NY Dailynews reports, that same sex marriage in California has been put on hold. At least until August 18, 2010 to allow time for additional fact finding and to leave room for gay marriage opponents to file an appeal.

Schwarzenegger, originally from Austria, which has a rather interesting history in regards to political personalities, argued it is in the public's interest to restore the rights of same-sex couples to marry in California. Whether that is true or it is the tyranny of the minority, is open for discussion.

"Doing so is consistent with California's long history of treating all people and their relationships with equal dignity and respect," Schwarzenegger said.

The federal judge who upended California's same-sex marriage ban this week is now being scrutinized by some for being gay himself, as reported in another article by the  NY Dailynews. On the other hand you could always argue that a judge is biased in this case, as the person ruling in the matter would be either gay or straight.

That Walker now allows extra time for fact finding speaks a little in his favor and at least shows that he is trying to be as diligent as possible in a case that is rather touchy.
