The Chicago Air & Water Show welcomes visitors with free admission from Aug 14, 2010 to Aug 15, 2010 to the the largest spectator event in the United States.

From simple beginnings as part of a "Family Day Celebration" in 1959, the show has grown to the oldest and largest free admission air and water exhibition in the United States. With audience numbers reaching an average of 2.2 million annually, it is one of the largest spectator events in the world.

Performers during the Chicago Air & Water Show 2010 are U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights.

Hours:

Saturday - Sunday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. each day. Times and performers subject to change.

Admission:

Free!

U.S. Navy Blue Angels

Since 1946 the U.S. Navy Blue Angels have been showing off their skills. This this elite group of Navy pilots use F/A-18 Hornets to show their aerobatic performances. You can watch them during the Chicago Air & Water Show, the longest ongoing show of its kind in North America.

Since 1995 this event is sponsored by Shell Oil Products US. "We are honored to take part in bringing this free event to the Chicago shoreline to showcase the pride in our brand and our appreciation for the City." - Kevin Autin, General Manager SOPUS.

The Golden Knights jump out of an aircraft from an altitude of about 12,500. While racing down with over 120 mph they perform all kinds of acrobatics. The U.S. Army Parachute was founded over 50 years ago and has had performances is all U.S. states.

If you plan a visit to Chicago, you might also want to walk through the Lurie Garden of Millennium Park and visit the Modern Wing of the Art Institute. Don't forget the skydeck Chicago's The Ledge and Chicago Cultural Center to round up you Chicago trip.
