[/caption]No brochure, word of mouth, or Hollywood mouthpiece is worth what President Obama did for those in the tourism and the hospitality industry, located in the Gulf States areas.
CNN.com is reporting that President Obama is currently vacationing in the gulf area, specifically in Florida, in an effort to entice tourists to do likewise.
Unlike the last time when the Obama’s took a vacation in the Boston area, which sparked criticism for them not taking vacation in the Gulf area during the early stages of the BP’s spill, the President and his family are relaxing in Panama City, Florida. The President even took the plunge in the waters with is daughter, answering the question on many minds whether he would take a swim.
The mini vacation for the First Family is scheduled to last just 27 hours and the business people are appreciative of the President’s visit; and the fact the President and his daughter, Sasha, took a swim, said to the world loud and clear that the waters are clean like before the BP spill. This vacation should also take the spotlight off First Lady, Michele Obama’s vacation in Spain, which engendered talk of lavishness and callousness in an era of relative hard times.
The last time the President took off his shirt, during the Presidential campaign, he caused a stir akin to that of Hollywood celebrities - no one knows if there are going to be similar sentiments for the tabloids because of the dire straits of the economy and the negative poll numbers of the Commander-In-Chief. I am certain that in the near future, someone will tally the increased number, hopefully, of the tourists visiting the Gulf area because of the First Family’s vacation.
