There have been various attempts to make a good vector illustration app for the iPad. These haven't been that great, I mean some were okay, but none of them were really winners. MiniDraw HD, however, is definitely a winner. It has all the basic tools that every graphic designer wants with them on the go.

One of the great things about it is that the pen tool works to flawlessly. It produces curves with editable points. This is something that has been a problem with previous apps. You weren't able to edit the points like you should be able to.

Also, this app has be ability to email to SVG. This is the main file format used in major vector graphics editors such as Adobe Illustrator. As well, you can email to PNG which makes your creations easy to share.

It has an export to Facebook & Twitter function. This is great for all you who love immediately sharing you graphics with the world.

This app allows you to use layers and to set opacity and you have RGB color selection. This gives you a lot to choose from in colors.

You can save/load multiple scenes and, you can export/import to/from other MiniDraw editions (i.e.: from MiniDraw to MiniDraw HD).

If you use Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Flash, Corel Draw or Inkscape, then this app is perfect for you. Personally, I use Adobe Illustrator and it was pretty easy to get used to the layout of this app and to start producing some illustrations.

Another cool thing you can do with this app is import a photo from your saved photos and place it as a background image. This makes it easy to trace something into a vector image right on your iPad.

This app is different from other slightly similar app because of the freedom to create you have with it. In other apps you just have predefined shapes with some editing options. You actually have a fully working pen tool.

This app costs $9.99 so that's quite a handful for an app, however, anyone who is serious about graphic design/vector design should be willing to pay a little for an app that allows them to created on the go.

[Rating: 5/5]

All in all, this is a fantastic app and I really look forward to future versions.

You can purchase MiniDraw HD here.
