India Day Parade NYC 2010

The 30th Annual India Day Parade will take place in New York City on August 15th, 2010. The parade starts at Madison Avenue and proceeds from 38th to 28th Streets.

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta will be Grand Marshall for this year's parade.

Organised by the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), the parade begins from Madison Avenue in Manhattan, culminating at a venue where cultural and entertainment programmes are held.
The parade, biggest celebration of India's independence outside India, attracts more than 50,000 people.

Trinidad and Tobago`s first female Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, will be a special guest at the 2010 Indian Independence Day parade in Manhattan. The Prime Minister will be the guest of honor at the 30th India day parade, organized annually by the Federation of Indian Associations. She will march alongside Bollywood actress Preity Zinta who will be the parade`s grand marshal, the FIA said in a statement.

"We are delighted to have her as guest of honor this year and we celebrate her election to such a prestigious position in government of a great country. This is yet another milestone that our community in North America should be proud of," Nirav Mehta, president of FIA, was quoted as saying.
