Dublin Irish Festival Celebrates "Irish Attitude" with Entertainment Line-up
Dublin, Ohio is a 200 year old city. Since 23 years it has made a name for itself based on its “Irish attitude.” This year, when this United States city celebrates its Bicentennial, it will also celebrate the music, dance and culture for which it has become an international destination. The 2010 Dublin Irish Festival takes place Aug. 6, 7 & 8.
While Festival organizers are serious about reserving the first weekend of August for all things Irish, they don’t take the city’s lack of true Irish heritage too seriously when marketing themselves…”Like Ireland, Except Smaller.” In fact, there’s nothing small about the 2010 Dublin Irish Festival with its 29 acres of green space featuring 7 stages, 65 acts and more than 535 performers. The fun begins Friday at 4 p.m. and lasts until Sunday at 9 p.m.
The Festival Dedication takes place Friday at the Time Warner Trinity Stage. Throughout the weekend, this stage is set for performances by Luka Bloom, Brigid’s Cross, The Clancy Legacy, Tommy Sands and His Irish Band and more.
Killian’s Celtic Rock Stage opens Friday with Homeland and closes with Gaelic Storm, proven Festival favorites. Also featured throughout the weekend on the Celtic Rock Stage are Enter the Haggis, Barleyjuice, Scythian, Seven Nations and Saw Doctors.
The ScottsMiracle-Gro Dublin Stage kicks-off with The General Guinness Band. Throughout the weekend, see and hear Solas, Natalie MacMaster, Lúnasa and Richens/Timm Academy of Irish Dance. Fans of the traditional Irish music and dance featured on this stage may want to purchase a membership in the new Dub Club, which offers stage side views, a private beverage station and private restrooms. This $50 ticket includes admission to the Festival.
The Irish Thunder Stage is a variety show like no other. Check out Capital City Pipe & Drum, Vinegar Hill, Irish Fiddle Fetish, The Tartan Terrors and more. You’ll find yourself returning time and again for this adrenalin rush.
Other entertainment stages include the Shamrock Pub, the Cardinal Health Ceili Dance Tent and the Celtic Music House. The Shamrock Pub plays host to The Hooligans, Knot Fibb’n, and Roger Drawdy and the Firestarters. The Cardinal Health Ceili Dance Tent features members of four dance academies. The Celtic Music House features Mossy Moran on Friday and Sunday and a Singer/Songwriter Circle on Saturday.
An indescribable value, the Dublin Irish Festival daily ticket is $10 and a weekend ticket is $23. A Festival ticket offers a great return on investment including a discount when purchased in advance, an opportunity to customize and download a schedule and a weekend to remember.
