Desktop Connect is an iPad app that enables you to access your desktop computer, or laptop computer. With this app you can do whatever you want on your computer remotely from your iPad. This is a fantastic app for those that travel a lot and need access to their computer at home, as well as those busy business people who like to forget important documents at home.
You know how the iPad doesn't support Adobe Flash? Well, now it can! Desktop Connect lets you do this. Also, you can launch and view any application that runs on your computer. You can remotely control Media Players and PowerPoint Presentations. This is really, really useful if you wish to give a presentation to your "guys down at the office" while you're away.
The basic rundown of this app:
A fast, full-featured desktop view with which you can both view and control Windows, Mac OSX and Linux computers as if you were sitting in front of them. Also, you can observe others using the computer as if you were watching over their shoulders.
Desktop Connect is the only iPad app that does these things easily and fast. But, those are not the only features of this amazing app. It will also automatically discover all of your computers on your local network and it offers support for both VNC and Microsoft Remote Desktop (RDP). This is great because others charge for each of the standard protocols.
Easy Connect leverages Google Technology in many ways. These are all demonstrated in Desktop Connect. One great thing that it can do is if can find your computer anywhere in the world simply by signing into your Google Gmail account.

Desktop Connect is obviously designed to work seamlessly with the iPad. It has full support for 3G, Single Click Connect - which means not complicated setup is required - and you can use your iPad both a touchscreen, or as a touchpad. As well, it captures a screenshot of your last session so that you have an easy future reference when you connect the next time.
With Desktop Connect you can bookmark your frequently used computers for convenient access. This is good if you have several computers that you connect to. Also, you can stream sound from any version of Windows Vista and Windows 7. According to the developers, "Mac OSX is coming soon."
This means that you can save space on your iPad by just listening to your desktop's music library! Or you can just watch movies that you have on your computer through your iPad and also save space through this.

One important question you may ask is, "Does having this app mean that if I lend my iPad to my friends they will have access to all my other computers?"
Well, this app also uses 128-bit encryption of all passwords. As well, you can restrict access to Desktop Connect with a passcode. Also the app utilizes data encryption available through SSH tunneling (VNC only) and VPN access. This enables you to protect all of your private information from others. So, we can conclude that the answer to the above named question is a definite no.
Some advanced features:
A shared clipboard for you iPad and desktop. This allows you to copy and paste between them. (RDP only)
Fantastic automatic discovery through both Apple Bonjour and Microsoft NETBIOS.
And, last but not least, Wake-on-LAN. (WOL)
All in all, this is a fantastic app. It has numerous features, is simple and easy to use, has an innovative user interface and it works!
The only complaint that some people have is it's price, $14.99. However, I think that that's a small price to pay for having remote access to your computer through your iPad and, being able to use Flash through it.
