If you have been following the media coverage on the ten spies, who apparently were sleeper cells, you will have heard about a red head among them, Anna Chapman, who seems to have the media in a tizzy.It's as though the media are subtly saying "Give the red head a break because of her supposed beauty!"
Further more, if I didn’t know better, I would say that it was only men who were reporting, and focusing on the red headed spy.
I supposed I am the only one who is going to throw a wet blanket on this disproportionate focus on Chapman, and instead point out of her cloak and dagger escapades, undertaken against the interests of the United States.
It was only last week when we saw President Obama in California, sharing a hamburger with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. But no matter how chummy our bilateral relationship seems to be, know that the Russians are trying to undermine us; be it stealing our secrets, or thwarting our influence in the world.
Of course, we do the same to them, because this is the game Hegemonies play, and it’s dangerous. And lest we forget or be blinded by her beauty, this red headed spy was trained as a lethal tool in this dangerous game.
No matter how attractive Chapman was, let us not forget that she meant to do us harm; she is no different than those other that have been caught and vigorously prosecuted.
Let me pose this question: What would you think would have happened if some local had discovered the secret of this beautiful spy? Do you think that she would have let him go? Or do you think that said local would have been led to his death?
I know what you are thinking, at least you men – what a way to go! For the sake of giving Chapman the benefit of the doubt, let us further supposed that if she were indeed inadvertently discovered by a local and she decided to let him live, do you think her Russian handlers in the SVR would have sanctioned her leniency? I dare say, nyet!
