The basketball pundits have been woefully wrong in their many predictions; I wonder how many sports gamblers lost arms and legs depending on what amounted to predictions made by Miss Cleo. One of the most glaring predictions was about the Boston Celtics… being left out of the discussion, as to which teams would compete in the basketball playoffs. Nary a pundit chose the Celtics… but they opined on how old the principal players were to compete with LeBron James.

But Boston’s reliable three old men - Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen – are playing like youths and dispatching the pundits picks. It was shocking, to say the least, what Boston did to the Cavaliers and is continuing to do with the rest of the competition... taking the first two games from Miami on their home turf.

The sole reason that this run by Boston’s reliable three-some is so stunning is that they lost so many games during the regular season and was literally limping into the post season.  Whatever patches and balms Boston is using is working well and tonight they will be playing on their home court… hoping to hold serve. If Boston wins the series between them and Miami, they would have returned to the finals for the second time in three years. None of the pundits predicted this and I dare say that the Celtics are just as surprised as I am – of course, they would not admit this.

Miss Cleo lost her job, but these pundits continue to predict; many of them now are “Jonny-come-latelies” to the Celtic’s fold and only few have the courage of their convictions in sticking with their predictions. These critics of Boston are relegating the Celtics run, so far, as an aberration. I just see wins and like Machiavelli, the end justifies the means.
