The Mexican President Felipe Calderon is visiting the United States at a time when tensions between the two countries are mounting over Arizona’s Immigration Law. The irony is that President Obama probably sees eye to eye with his Mexican counterpart on the Arizona law.

President Calderon addressed both houses in Washington, D.C. yesterday and received applause from both parties on his valiant efforts in fighting the ruthless Mexican drug cartels. Such praises are warranted for the Mexican President because no other presidents before him has attempted this dangerous feat of taking on the drug cartels.  We all know that the murders due to the drug trafficking are at epidemic levels in Mexico; and these killings are happening in neighboring border States like Texas, California, and Arizona

President Calderon made sure he premised his position on gun control by paying respect to America’s Second Amendment right to bear arms, but underscored that many of the weapons sold under this right were getting into the hands of criminals contributing to the drug related murders. Calderon has put himself and his family lives in grave danger by taking on the powerful drug cartels. It is why when President Calderon spoke critically about the Arizona law - calling it racial profiling - he was given a somewhat wide berth because of his valiant fight against the cartels. The Republicans in particular were less than enthused with his critique of the Arizona Immigration law and one could see and hear the muted applause during that segment of President Calderon’s address.

The truth is President Calderon must do and say everything he can to keep the flow of illegal immigrants entering America because it is reported that over a billion dollars are sent back to Mexico, which assist the Mexican economy - Were it not for all these dollars, the economic situation in Mexico would be even more dire. One could understand President Calderon’s hypocrisy, whereby his country’s immigration laws, which address illegal aliens, are much more stringent than those of the United States. If President Calderon really wanted to secure the border, he would put up a barrier or be just as vigilant as he and his country are preventing other aliens from entering Mexico.

  1. Well of cours the Mexican President will be critical of the Arizona law. It doesn't take a rock scientist to figure out this one.

He wants all the poor deprived Mexicans to come here and get free medical services that we tax payers provide, and then let them work for cash as gardeners and fruit pickers so they don't pay taxes, yet send all the money back to Mexico !!!

It just makes his pathetic country finanically stronger so he can take the money for himself.
