There is a site that is urging Facebook users to delete their Facebook accounts on May 31, 2010. So far more than 3,700 people have pledged to quit Facebook on May 31. The site Quit Facebook Day is gradually getting more exposure.

The reason people are supposed to quit Facebook is in retaliation to the new privacy settings that Facebook has established. They do not like that they have a lot less control over what they share.

It is unclear if Facebook should begin to worry about losing their users as the percentage of users that have pledged to quit is pretty low compared to the amount of users still going strong and the millions of monthly new users.

There is also a Facebook page that is promoting the site. It is also called Quit Facebook Day. As of this writing, there are 2,019 people that "Like" the page.

What is surprising is that Facebook is letting this page grow rather then deleting it. In contrast to the page, there is a Facebook page called I Love Facebook and that has 1,124 people that "Like" it.

In response to the site/page, the San Francisco Chronicle wrote an article called, "Uh-Oh, 0.00000068% Of Facebook Users Promise To Quit On May 31."

This shows that right now most people are not taking the site seriously, however, the question remains:

Is it possible that this website becomes dangerous to Facebook?

Only time will tell...
