With all the buzz about the newly revealed Apple iPad Tablet PC, I think it would be appropriate to make a list of the top 8 must-have applications for the device.

1. Pages. Pages is basically the Microsoft Word software for the iPad. It has excellent features and is great for any business person or even non-business person using an iPad. It has the functionality to layout letters, flyers, brochures, reports etc. It is a definite must-have app for the iPad, however, at $9.99 it is not cheap.

- Sub #1 apps are, Numbers and Keynote. Numbers is a very innovative spreadsheet app for the iPad. It is a great way to make spreadsheets on the go and it has a very user-friendly layout. Keynote is the presentation app for the iPad. It is also very easy to use and with it you can create beautiful presentations that are ready for your next business meeting, your school project, whatever. Both of the above apps are also priced at $9.99 so you might want to ask for some iTunes gift cards for your next birthday.

2. Motionx GPS HD. This app is great. Its user interface is so easy to use and it has a beautiful high definition display. The maps look great and the reviews show that people are loving it. Priced at $2.99 you are getting a great deal. At the rate that people are buying this app, you should hurry to get it while the price is so low.

3. Weather HD. This is app shows you the current weather and the weather forecast in stunning high definition videos. It is a great way to check the weather and it really shows you what you can do with the iPad.

4. Photogene for iPad. This is a comprehensive iPad photo editing application. It has a wide variety of image editing tools. They range from cropping and straightening to color editing. This is a must-have app for any photographer who needs to edit photos on the go. Priced at only $3.99 this is a great deal. This app perfectly compliments the photo displaying capabilities of the iPad.

5. World Atlas HD. This application designed specifically for the iPad by National Geographic puts the best maps out there right in the palm of your hand. The brilliant high resolution maps are excellent for finding your way or just making a travel plan. You also get an expertly researched Flags and Facts database which contains a lot of geographic and socio-economic data. At $1.99 this app is a steal.



6. iBooks. This app is a beautiful ebook reader for the iPad, it is designed by Apple. With this app you get the iBookstore with which you can purchase books in their ebook version. The stunning display of the iPad enriches your reading experience beyond belief. This is a free app so you have nothing to lose in downloading it. By downloading the app, you also get to enjoy a complimentary copy of the illustrated classic, Winnie-the-Pooh by A. A. Milne.

7. Netflix. If you like movies or TV shows, the Netflix app is for you. The app is free, you just have to pay for the monthly Netflix membership. With the app you can stream movies or TV shows directly to your iPad.

If you want to know the definition of a word you just type it in to the app and it will define it for you. The best part? It's free. The second best part? No internet connection required. That means if you are on a road trip and you are reading your favorite novel you don't have to wait to get to a hotel to clear up that word you are confused on. That's just one of the many great things about this app. It's perfect for readers and writers because it has both a dictionary and a thesaurus.
