Google has updated the Android's mobile application. It now has the ability to take a picture of words and instantly translate them into the language of the user.

For example, if you are an American in, say France and you don't know French you won't be able to understand a sign. All you have to do is pull out your phone and snap a photo and tell google to translate it.
The application uses OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to recognize words inside an image and then it uses its translation abilities to get these words to you in your language.
The mobile application is called Goggles. The update, v1.1 also has new features such as improved barcode recognition and the recognition of many more products and logos, an improved user interface and the ability to do visual searches using images from your phone's photo gallery.
According to CNN, "Goggles 1.1 is available at the Android Market for devices running OS 1.6 and above. It isn't certain if Google will build out this application for other mobile operating systems."
