Today Jordan Romero, a 13-year-old from Big Bear Lake, California announced on his blog:

"Team Jordan Summits Mt. Everest

The team just called in and confirmed that they are standing on top of Mt. Everest - the highest peak in the world.  Their dreams have now come true.  Everyone sounded unbelievably happy.  They also thanked everyone who supported them and encouraged them throughout their journey.

I’m sure we’ll hear more from them soon!"

With this accomplishment Jordan is the youngest climber to scale Mt. Everest.

It took "years of preparation, determination and hard work" says another entry on his blog from May 21st, 2010.

Pete Thomas reports on petethomasoutdoors.com:

"Rob Bailey, a spokesman for Romero's climbing party, confirmed that Romero achieved the 29,035-foot summit Saturday morning local time (Himalayan range)."

"Bailey had few other details. Romero, an eighth-grader from Big Bear Lake, Calif., was climbing with his father Paul and Paul's girlfriend, Karen Lundgren. The trio  now needs to bag Mount Vinson in Antarctica to complete the Seven Summits, or the tallest peak on each continent."
