Shark Week 2010 is now nicknamed "Happy Shark Week" and it is beginning today, August 1 on Discovery Channel. This season will be featuring six brand-new shark specials. Craig Ferguson will be hosting the show.

After one year, the episodes of the Shark Week of the prior year are usually released on DVD. The complete 2009 season of Shark Week with 2 additional episodes that were never aired is for example available since a few month. That DVD also features a two hour documentary film that is titled "Blood in the Water".

Shark Week 2010 starts Sunday, August 1, with "Ultimate Air Jaws" at 9PM e/p and "Into the Shark Bite" at 10 PM e/p. There is also some live shark feeding shown from time to time from the "Ocean Voyager" exhibit at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, GA. You can see the shark live cam here and more sharks at the Georgia aquarium!

On the shark week website you can also watch these videos:

A thirty minute video showing the ten of the most shocking shark attacks ever caught on tape. It also gives a shark attack survival guide. Then you can also get tips from experts on how to prevent and survive a shark attack.

Another video shows 10 sharks that you have probably never seen, including the rare frilled shark, the goblin shark, which looks kind of spooky and the mysterious Greenland shark.

That sharks are just out to eat humans alive is a myth. In a one hour presentation they take apart all the common myths about sharks and show you the true information. It also give information why we actually need sharks and what they really do.

Sharks may look scary, but they are some really neat creatures if you dare to take a closer look.
