The Mac Observer is reporting that Microsoft will be releasing Office for Mac 2011 this coming October – with this Office for Mac 2011 release, there are ramifications: the current office suite price will be slashed some 50%; there will be a Home and Student edition; and a Home and Business edition. The pending release of Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 will also put out to pasture entourage, ushering in a new version of Outlook for managing contacts, calendars, and e-mail messages. Office for the Mac’s Business version will include: Word; Excel; PowerPoint; Messenger; and Outlook – the new Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 Home and Student's edition will include the same as the Business version, except Outlook.

The price for Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 installation on a single Mac will cost $119 and 4149 for three Macs, while the installation for the Home and Office's edition on a single Mac will cost $199 and $279 for the installation of two Macs. In comparison or more so the economic times we are living in, the Office 2008 Home and Student's edition cost then $149 and the 2008 Office Business' edition cost $399. Academic pricing for Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 Home and Business edition is more reasonable and to that end, it will cost a mere $99 for installation on a singular computer.

No one is projecting how the sales for this endeavor, Microsoft Office for Mac 2011, will fare, but no doubt, the software giant is hoping that it rivals the sales Office 7. Microsoft is on a mission to be the “it” tech company again, scheduling the debuts of a spate of technologies to make the consumer lives more convenient and getting back some of the “shine” now afforded to Apple.
