A Massachusetts high school teacher, June Talvitie-Siple, learned the hard way that a Facebook wall is not the best place to gripe about the students and parents in her community.

This is very important for people to realize. Lots of people don't realize that what you post on the internet is findable and is especially so if your privacy settings allow everyone to see what you write.
Talvitie-Siple was a supervisor of the high school math and science program at her school. She was forced to resign this week after parents spotted some of her Facebook updates that she wrote describing students as "germ bags" and parents as "snobby" and "arrogant."
Two parents in the community reported to the school superintendent the posts that they had noticed on Talvitie-Siple's Facebook wall. The superintendent was on vacation overseas so she sent an email asking her to resign.

"She did what was probably the most appropriate thing to do, I embarrassed her, I embarrassed the school district and, you know, if I were her, I probably would have done the same thing. It was not a surprise," said Talvitie-Siple according to ABCNews.com.
The teacher thought that her posts would only be visible to her friends and family, however, what she did not realize was that her Facebook privacy settings made the comments visible to others on the internet.
She also wrote on Facebook that, "I'm so not looking forward to another year at Cohasset Schools." This was when she added that the community was "arrogant" and "snobby."
This experience might have lost her career, and thus, she's definitely learned her lesson. If you have something work related that you wish to gripe about, you should leave it off the internet.
Talvitie-Siple is not the first one to lose her job through a Facebook mess up. Hopefully, people will soon learn their lessons and this will no longer be a returning issue.
