[/caption]Yesterday in New York were the Tony Awards. But instead of looking Broadway the Tony Awards looked more Hollywood. Some of our well-known Hollywood stars that received Tony awards include, Denzel Washington, Scarlett Johansson and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Attending the Tony Awards was a big Hollywood crowd too, this crowd included: Naomi Watts, Lucy Lui, Beyonce, Jay-Z and Will Smith.
Catherine Zeta-Jones won a Tony for the best leading actress in the musical A Little Night Music. She thanked her children and her husband Michael Douglas when she received the award.
Scarlett Johansson won a Tony for best performance by a featured actress in the play, A View From the Bridge. She was very happy about winning this award and said that ever since she was a little girl she wanted to be on Broadway.
Denzel won his Tony award for best leading actor in the play Fences.
Sometimes we might wonder what it is that these Hollywood stars do when they aren’t filming for their next film, well now we know, they go and perform on Broadway.
Being a star on Broadway is a lot harder than being a star in Hollywood. If an actor does well on Broadway that goes to show that they really can act and that they have genuine talent. When you act on-stage you can’t just cut the scene and start over you have to get it right the first time.
So all of those Hollywood actors that also act on Broadway definitely have a lot of talent and my respect for them is very high.
