[/caption]Do you like to drive fast? Do you have trouble keeping your car at the speed limit? Well, I'll introduce you to an app that will tell you how fast you are going and, it will tell you when you are going to fast.
Speed Box utilizes the iPhone and/or the iPad 3G's built in GPS and accelerometer. It then can tell you how fast you are going. You can set a top speed and when you pass that it will beep loudly to tell you to slow down and ease your foot off the pedal. That's not the only feature though. It also has a digital compass that will help you find your way if you go somewhere too fast. :)
It also has an odometer which measures the distance traveled. It has a black background to help improve readability.
You can choose to use an analog or a digital speedometer. Also, you can choose from 4 different analog styles and colors. This makes customization easy and you can fit your speedometer to your lifestyle.
You can set Speed Box to have a mirrored display so you can see the speed in your car's windshield. This is like the Head Up Display (HUD) in military jets. However, this feature works mainly only with expensive luxury cars...
You can choose to display your speed in mph, km/h, or knots. This means that you can use this in a car, on a boat or on a plane! I hope you keep your attention on the road, water, or sky, however, not on how cool this app is. But, you can use the HUD display in your plane... How cool is that?
Also, this app charts your recently traveled speed so you can see your speeding and slowing down all graphed out for easy readability.

[/caption]This is a very accurate app. It has been tested and proven over and over again to be very accurate. However, you should not use this as a replacement for your normal speedometer, rather as an addition. I don't know if the Police would endorse this app or if they would criticise it for directing your attention further off the road. But then, isn't that what every speedometer does.
Well, I don't think that you should get caught using this in California as it's against the law to use a cell phone while driving so I don't think it's very legal to use an iPad...
All in all, this is a great app and is a lot of fun. It's also very useful in many ways.
